Importance of correct communication

Man was a nomad in the dawn of civilization. He was ruled by animal instincts then. He ate when he was hungry and drank when he was thirsty. He found suitable shelter when he needed rest or protection from the weather. He used his mouth to create sounds (not words) that would denote anger, happiness or pain and such other emotions not by words but by the tone. This was the first use of verbal language.

Soon man realized that he needed shelter and he was hungry thrice a day and thirsty many times over. So he decided to station himself in a place near a river or a stream, store food and water instead of going in search of them.

Thus man cultivated and kept his basic needs with him. As his needs grew and he was unable to produce all the things of his needs himself, he began holding a few of his needs and exchanged them for others which were held by other humans. For e.g., he grew coconuts and exchanged them for rice or wheat or tools.

Here communication played an important tool for him. His purchasing power was dependent on how well he marketed his goods and how much benefit he accrued by selling them. He now used a particular set of sounds to denote particular things. These sounds became words over a period of time.

The world is shrinking its borders with every passing day. No one can live without interacting with others. Language is the easiest method of communication known to man. It is the most important tool in society today.

Power, Transport and Communication are the three pillars of modern society. They are the means to run a society efficiently. In all spheres the ability to communicate can only bring out the technical expertise that one holds. Many people with a firm grasp over knowledge are unable to fare well if they lack communication abilities. In the absence of this ability we will fall short in casting an impression about what capabilities we hold in our selves and end up impressing others for a limited time frame.

What rules the world today?

No, it is not money!

In early days when interaction began, the power to barter ruled the world. That was when trade was established mutually by bartering goods for other goods. Then came the metal age where pieces of metals were the commonly accepted medium for determining the value of goods. After passing through iron, copper, bronze, silver and the gold ages where these metals were given value and were ruling the world, we came to the era of currency or money.

For quite sometime money ruled the world and a rich man's words held a lot of weight. Money was everything and only those with plenty of it were given due respect. Even though this has not been completely true, it has been proved beyond doubt that money no longer rules the world today. The mere presence of money without the ability to make it grow will make the richest man poor with the passage of time.

It is only when money is met with the means to make more that it will hold value. The knowledge to transact, or pragmatic knowledge is what rules the world today. Information that rules the world today. Any learned man who has the ability to use the information he holds and gets an insight into tomorrow can only aspire to rule the world with his knowledge.

Nobody suffers a rich fool. Money without knowledge will be gone in no time. A poor person with knowledge will still be respected well. Money will be attracted towards those people who have knowledge. The mere ability to store information will not make one competent. It is well known that mere knowledge of grammar or basics of English is insufficient. To prosper one has to start applying the knowledge of grammar in actual use and correct the mistakes and speak better.
